Chinch Bugs Control in Spring Hill & Surrounding Areas
What do chinch bugs do?
Chinch bugs are a winged insect that attacks St. Augustine grass and can destroy a yard in a matter of weeks. This insect is small (1/8" adult) and is black with white markings on its back. It sticks its snout into the stolen (runner) of the St. Augustine grass and sucks the juice out of it. It also injects saliva into the stolen which acts as a herbicide. Our lawn care professionals from BugX Exterminators offer chinch bug control throughout Spring Hill, Brooksville, Weeki Wachee, Dade City, Land O' Lakes, New Port Richey, Wesley Chapel, Zephyrhills, Crystal River, Homosassa, Inverness and the surrounding areas.
This saliva kills the grass plant. The lawn will begin to turn a sickly yellow and then go brown. The grass plants are dead and will not recover. Once treated, the chinch bugs are killed, but the damage will continue. The area that had evident damage at the time of treatment will almost double after the treatment. The chinch bugs have been active in the surrounding turf, but the results have not shown up as yet. But each grass plant that has been injected with the chinch bug's saliva will eventually turn yellow and die.
How much damage is caused?
It is important to note that it takes 25 chinch bugs per square foot to actually do significant damage to a lawn. Many times people treat for chinch bugs and the grass continues to die. This can be related to the stress the infestation has placed on the lawn. A stressed lawn can develop Take All Root Rot . This is the most undiagnosed lawn problem that we have today. The only way to determine if the chinch bugs have turned on the take all root rot is by viewing samples under a microscope.
